National Shabbat 250 🇺🇸

  • Chabad Serving Jericho Syosset Plainview Old Bethpage (map)

Exciting news, everyone! 🇺🇸

For the first time in American history, the President of the United States has officially proclaimed a National Shabbat — Shabbat 250 — to honor America’s upcoming 250th birthday!

This historic call comes as part of Jewish American Heritage Month. From sundown Friday, May 15 through nightfall Saturday, May 16, the White House is encouraging Jewish Americans — and friends, families, and communities of all backgrounds — to observe a day of rest, reflection, gratitude, and connection with the Almighty.

It’s a beautiful reminder of the religious freedom that makes this country so special, and a powerful way to give thanks for 250 glorious years of American independence during the Rededicate 250 weekend of prayer, praise, and thanksgiving.

How can you participate?

- Light Shabbat candles

- Share a meaningful meal with family and friends

- Unplug, rest, and reflect

- Express gratitude for our nation and its blessings

- Invite others to join — whether they’re Jewish or simply want to experience a day of peace and renewal

This isn’t just for one community — it’s an invitation for all Americans to pause and appreciate what unites us.

Who’s joining Shabbat 250 this weekend? Drop a 🙌 or comment below and let us know how you’re planning to observe it! Tag friends and family to spread the word.

Together, let’s make this a meaningful and uplifting Shabbat for our nation.
